About us
Established in 2018 to usher the Las Vegas community into a new era of music and culture, the Making Music Matter Foundation stewards the Desert Winds, Chambers, Honor Winds, and Band Camp Reimagined. Learn more about each ensemble below.

Eclipsing the traditions of the classical music scene, the Desert Winds is as culturally searing as the desert climate from which it came. Led by Artistic Director Dr. Charles A. Maguire, this award-winning wind ensemble dynamically harnesses the creative spirit of musical art and burns into our consciousness that inclusivity and community are synonymous.
Extending the reach of our flagship ensemble, Desert Winds, Chambers provides a pocket-sized set of performances based on small ensemble music traditions. More intimate in nature, these concerts serve to advance the historically significant performance tradition of the Desert Winds. Chambers is currated by Allison McSwain.
Echoing the sound tradition of the Desert Winds, the Honor Winds fosters a tuition-free music education program that focuses on lifelong musicianship within its students. Representative high school winds and percussion players from across the valley come together to create life-mirroring musical art. This selective program is led by one of the most celebrated music educators in the United States today, Diane Koutsoulis.
Education is at the core of our Camp Reimagined programs. Created in 2017 as the brainchild of master educators John Seaton and Dr. Charles A. Maguire, this student-centric camp implements the most innovative and modern music training techniques found today.
