Steven Luce and his wife have been long standing supporters of The Desert Winds and the Making Music Matter Foundation. Steve's support of the ensemble and its Veterans Day Salute concerts goes well beyond just being in the audience.

A connection with our community

Steven has been featured as a speaker during our Congregation Ner Tamid concerts and has been instrumental in building a relationship with the Las Vegas and Henderson Jewish communities.

Service and support

Steven is one of our favorite Veterans having served for over 30 years in the US Navy as an officer and a pilot! Dr. Charles Maguire and Steve bonded over their shared family history of military service. After being "moved tremendously" at their first Desert Winds Veterans Day Concert, Steven and his wife became monthly donors to the organization. Dr. Maguire acclaimed that, "Steve reminds me of all that is right in the world; selfless devotion, service, duty, country and humankind. Steve is simply the consummation of the American spirit"

Steve's support has helped the organization honor veterans through music. According to Steve, “I treasure our relationship and am proud to support this great organization.”

A past Veterans Day tribute

Eagle Soaring: A Veterans Day Salute was presented on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 7 PM at Congregation Ner Tamid. That historical event was free to the public through the generous support of the Nevada Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Palm Mortuary. The 2023 event has ended.
